According to the videos above that we watched in class, computers affect our lives in many ways. The first described positive ways technology will improve our lives. The second is kinda scary.
For our blog post I want you to reflect on this question. Based on your experience give your opinion on what you think are the long-term effects of living in a technological world? Are these mostly negative or positive?
Please write a short paragraph 5-6 sentences, describing which side you lean toward. Please include a little of your own experience and how you think technology will help or hurt you in the future.

Watching both of the videos, I think that technology will change our world in the next decade or so. Looking on the positive side, technology can change us to help those in an emergency and get the police or EMT's to the location quick as possible. Also, with the technology in the future it helps doctors help find what is the problem in a MRI or trying to find a cure to a disease. On the negative side, if we have our information on the internet, hackers could find us and either find us on the street, hurt our families for friends. In my own experience I believe that in the future that technology can help our doctors find a cure to some of the diseases out there. My experience with the internet is that a girl has been texting this boy who she believe is her age,thirteen or fourteen. She asked the boy if she wants to meet the boy at Starbucks. The next day, she was waiting for him for an hour, and he finally shows up. She now realizes that it wasn't a boy her age and is an adult.The man takes her and I believe he raped her.If we stay safe online then we should never have any of these problems again.
ReplyDeleteI think that currently and in the future technology can be used to save people's lives. It matters on how you use technology. Technology in medicine such as scans and MRI's can help to figure out what is wrong. For example if you were to have a brain tumor no one can just look at you and determine that. Doctors now use technology every day and it is extremely beneficial to us. Technology as in social media is something we should all be aware of. Social media can be used in a good way such as communicating with friends and family that you can not see every day or to share experiences and photos but it could also be used in a negative way which we tend to see more of. Bullying happening through social media is very common and has a major effect on self harm. Scenarios such as stalking, stealing information, or cat fishing is not safe and also has a negative effect on us. I think technology can be extremely beneficial to us and future generations but technology used negatively on social media should change and we should be more cautious of what is happening online.

DeleteBoth of these videos show the positive and negative side of technology. In the first video it shows how technology can be useful to the environment and the people in it. During the video "computers in 5 years" Dr. John R Smith states that computers and technology can help find faster way to detect skin cancer and help dermatology. Another positive reason about technology is that it can help notice emergency's that can assist and notify police officers and the fire fighters to that accident. In the second video it describes another way of technology that hurts the environment. It explains how the internet is not a safe place for children and adults. On the internet and social media their are many bullies that can describe a photo of yours in a very negative way that can make people feel unhappy. Another possible reason why the internet has a negative side with adults and children is hackers. Hackers are people who try to steal others identity and personal belongings from the internet. In both of these videos they explain how the internet works in reality and how it has a positive and negative side.
ReplyDeleteThe two video have good points of why technology can be harmful or helpful. Yes, technology can help people, for example people that are sick or that are in need of help. " It can be very useful for sharing experiences that others can benefit from". Ever day when i get to school and when i get out of school, i would call my parents when i get in and when i get out. With out this device i could not get in touch with other people. However technology can also be dangerous, for example social media, or cyber bullying. "we have created tools that are ripping apart the social fabric".
ReplyDeleteI know that the internet and technology today is not necessarily a bad thing. It can save people's lives today. They can order medicine online, food online, that doesn't make it bad. Social media on the other hand, is not something that can help you today. In fact, it does quite the contrary. I know social media is designed to be a place of fun where you can connect with your friends, but that's not how it's used in society today. Social media is a scary place. If you read the terms and conditions of some social media apps, it says that they own all the pictures, your information isn't safe, etc. I know I already said the internet is not a bad place, but the thing is, the internet is so big, you could literally find anything. In computers, webcams are watching you. In phones, they track your every move, your every click. I think the internet is a double-edged sword; it can be used both ways, for good, and for wrongdoing.
ReplyDeleteWatching the two videos there are both pros and cons in having technology in our lives. Technology has improved our way of life a lot the past few years. Technology in today's world helps us with everything we do. Pros, technology can help kids with their homework, can help kids and their parents keep contact with each others, help doctors keep records of their patients sickness and much more. Technology is very useful and will get more complex in the future that could help us even more.Cons, kids and parents these days are on technology way to much. Technology is a big distraction to us all that stops us from doing the things that are more important. Also a huge thing with technology is social media and cyber bullying. Social media is a huge thing that kids these days are all using and cyber bulling is a big thing that kids do to others online. Technology is bad something because every time my family and I go out to dinner we all go on our first instead of interacting with each other. Technology is very powerful and we should use it wisely.
ReplyDeleteListening carefully to both the videos online were extremely interesting. I say this because technology use can have its ups and downs/pros and cons. We in society all utilize technology however it can be a hindrance as well. The positives are tremendous, especially within the medical field. Having information available at our fingertips in order to rectify issues. Considering the impact of how society works, technology can be stated as a negative as well. The way people react to each other, how society operates etc is a way society programmed us all. Are we ready to consider the impact of what technology has to offer? I wondered about that however just knowing the way in which the good somehow supersedes, I’m considering it.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion living in a technological world can be both beneficial and harmful in the long-term. Technology can sometimes be crucial when communicating. AMBER Alerts and Flood warnings for example, are needed to help someone in need and ensure the safety of others. This cannot be sent any other way besides using Technology. Technology can also be helpful because it can provide information. Like educational, industrial and even medical facts. I have learned that in some ways though information at your finger tips is not always a good thing. Like my cousin i used to love to play Roblox. But, unlike her i had restrictions and knew when to stop. She didn't though and even stopped doing her homework to play the game. I tried to tell her she was addicted, but she didn't listen. She eventually failed all her classes and had to attend summer school. From this i learn that as Technology advances in the future i should use it but with a caution. To stay safe and to not become addicted.
ReplyDeleteI believe that being in a world practically run by technology can have benefits yet can be damaging. Technology can come in handy when having to reach someone, when something bad happens, or it usually ascertains our well-being. You can find order medicine online for your health, you can use it to help with your homework, and things like that. The negative side of technology is that some people use it the wrong way, some people cyber-bully and things like that. What I have learned from this is that technology is always advancing and it can and should be used for good, also that we should always use it for positive things.
ReplyDeleteTechnology has its positives and negatives. In the video, Computers in 5 years, it states and shows us that technology is the fastest way to detect things like cancer. It can also be helpful for emergency causes that can exist. Technology also can inform police officers and fire fighters and the news is also a form of technology since it is on the television and this will tell us what happened all over the world. The government also use technology for alerts to send out. In the other video, Social Media Ripping Apart, it shows how technology will affect us. There are hackers trying to get information about your bank account and credit cards. There are also people who tried to be other people and they want to meet other people. Many people will be unintelligent people who will believe that they are their age. People could get killed for information or raped.

DeleteI feel like there was a time where technology was not as harmful as it is now. Before there was screens, people were more in contact with their surroundings. Without technology, doctors would have a harder time detecting diseases. X-rays wouldn't be done correctly. Scientists wouldn't be able to find certain cures for diseases. These are all good impacts of technology, but people often get addicted to screen time. People's health seriously gets affected if the radiation from technology is too close to the body. Nowadays, people ruin there eyesight by keeping their screen's brightness all the way up in a dark environment. I think that technology will both help and hurt us in the future. One way that it may help us in the future is by making the possibility of finding a cure to illnesses like cancer higher. One way that it may hurt us is by us being exposed to too much radiation; making the risk higher of getting cancer.
ReplyDeleteTechnology can have its positives and negatives. In the 20th century today, our live styles are run by a computer screen. Not only is technology good in case of an emergency but it has helped doctors find cures for many diseases. It comes in handy for adults and kids as well, children use phones and computers to occupy themselves. This is great for parents because they wont have to hear their kids crying or screaming 24/7. Schools are also beginning to incorporate technology into teaching lessons too. In most work places, adults use some type of technology to do their job. Grand parents also love computers so they can video chat their loved ones from a far distance Therefore the use of technology has many positives. Although there are many good sides, there is always a negative to a positive no matter what. As a result of technology becoming popular, there is a great increase in cyberbullies and hackers. Sadly there is no way we can make cyber bullying become extinct but we can tell people to be more cautious about what they say through a computer screen, and we can also try to make hacking not as popular as it is now. In conclusion technology has its down side but we should be grateful for it.

It said how it can help cure dangerous diseases and maybe prevent them from occurring. Another positive affect on technology is that it can help prevent danger from happening and help emergencies when happening. It can help notice police when something is dangerous is about to happen or when it is happening. The second video showed me that technology can also be a negative affect to the society. It explains how the internet is not a safe place for children and some adults. It shows how it can cause bullying. There also can be situations causing including cat fish, and tricking younger viewers. Also hackers could be very dangerous, they can steal your identity and find out personal information about the person. Overall, in both these videos it showed both the positive and the negative side to technology.
ReplyDelete. In the first video it shows how useful computers could be to the environment by seeing pictures and understanding them. The computers could help people in many ways it can detect a severe storm and warn people which is helping them keep out of danger. Another way it can help is to guide emergency personnel and helping share experiences with people. Lastly it shows how helpful the computer will be in the world of medicine . A computer could look for patterns in skin cancer and prevent from the issue from going any further. In the second video it points to the negative side of technology . The man in the video explains how technology is ripping society apart there is a lack of communication and civilization in the world . He used an example of a whatsapp hoax about kidnappings and that people started killing others because of it . It explains how technology is getting into our heads too much. For me although technology is good and helps in everyday life with getting around and understanding things its negative because it lets out radiation which is really bad because that leads to cancer . Also living in a technological world could sort of turn us into dummies because we will turn to computers an phones for everything instead of using our heads.
ReplyDeleteAfter watching the first video, it explained and showed how computers will advance in the future and help the environment and people. Computers find new ways to bring new information into the world. Such as new medical advances, increased business growth and educational programs. Computers will make it easier to control machines, like the ones we use daily. Additionally, there are some negative effects. For example, relying on computers and other technology makes us less independent and hinders us from growing mentally. Although the advancement of computers have some negative impacts, its still beneficial to us in the long run. Computers will bring a new meaning to science and life.
